Dr Jade

Dr Jade Cook joined the team at Montrose Vet Centre in June 2026, where she consults every Friday and every second Saturday. Jade brings a wealth of experience in avian, exotic and wildlife medicine. Throughout her career, she has worked at Bonorong Wildlife Hospital, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, alongside treating small animals and exotic pets in general practice.

Her passion for avian medicine began with her own Green-cheeked Conure, Peppy. After Peppy suffered a traumatic injury, Jade found it surprisingly difficult to access veterinary care for birds. That experience inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to improving the health and welfare of avian and exotic species.

While studying veterinary science, Jade worked as a veterinary nurse at Brisbane Bird Vet, where she developed extensive experience treating sick birds and caring for hospitalised avian patients. She also sought out numerous university placements in avian, exotic and wildlife medicine, and even spent several university breaks working with wildlife conservation projects in Africa.

Outside of clinical practice, Jade remains committed to advancing avian health, welfare and conservation through her volunteer role as a Director of the Association of Avian Veterinarians Australasian Committee (AAVAC). She is passionate about supporting education, research and collaboration within the veterinary profession to improve outcomes for birds across Australasia.

Jade is experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of avian and exotic animal diseases and is proficient in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging, including radiography and ultrasonography. She also performs a variety of soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, including avian wing and leg fracture repair, small mammal desexing and dental procedures. Whether your companion has feathers, fur, fins or fangs, Dr Jade is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.
